Farlight 84: Shameless Apex Legends Clone?

When the new update of Farlight 84 arrived, I decided to finally give the game a try. Until recently, I had never touched Farlight 84 not even once. On the other hand, I’m a huge fan of Apex Legends, with around 2000 hours of gameplay experience. That’s important to note because it gives me a clear perspective when comparing the two.

After testing Farlight 84 on both mobile and PC, my first impression was shockingly clear: it feels like a complete copy of Apex Legends.

Gameplay

From the very beginning, the similarities are undeniable. Movement mechanics like sliding, wall climbing, and jumping feel identical. Even the gravity cannons from Apex exist here, except in Farlight 84, you can also adjust your direction mid-flight.

The loot and inventory management system is also the same, making it extremely familiar if you’ve played Apex before. Then there are the zip lines, healing items, shields, sound effects, and even announcement voices, all of them resemble Apex Legends so closely that at times it feels like playing a Chinese clone of the original.

It’s one thing to take inspiration from a game; it’s another to copy-paste entire gameplay systems. And that’s exactly what it looks like has happened here.

Where Farlight 84 Stands Out

Now, that doesn’t automatically mean Farlight 84 is a bad game. In fact, I found it quite enjoyable, especially the mobile version. Ever since Apex Legends Mobile shut down a couple of years ago, there hasn’t been a true alternative in the mobile market. Farlight 84 fills that gap perfectly, giving players a great battle royale experience with PC-level mechanics on mobile devices.

Major Drawbacks

However, my biggest complaint is the lack of originality. The developers have proven they’re capable of recreating Apex-level gameplay. That alone shows they could have also innovated and tried something fresh. Instead, they settled for being a clone, which makes the game lose its identity.

On PC, Farlight 84 faces an even bigger problem: poor optimization. Despite my system running Apex Legends smoothly, Farlight 84 stutters constantly during matches. The graphics feel dated, like something from the early 2010s, but the performance issues are closer to a modern AAA game struggling to run. The result is frustrating and ruins the overall experience.

Final Verdict

For me, 80–90% of Farlight 84 feels like Apex Legends re-skinned. If you’re already familiar with Apex, you’ll notice the similarities instantly. If you haven’t played Apex before, you might not even be able to tell the difference between the two games.

On mobile, Farlight 84 is a strong alternative to Apex Legends and will likely satisfy battle royale fans.

On PC, however, it’s hard to recommend due to its optimization issues, lack of originality, and the shadow of being called an Apex clone.

In the end, Farlight 84 proves the developers have talent, but unfortunately, they missed the chance to make something truly unique. The game is fun, no doubt, but it’s hard to shake off the feeling that you’re just playing Apex Legends under a different name.
