Ranking Prince of Perisa Games from Worst to the Best

Hello everyone, Welcome back to Big Banji, this is Sam, and in this article, I'll be ranking the Prince of Persia franchise games from the worst to the best. Keep in mind that these rankings are based on my personal opinions, and yours might be quite different. So, let's dive in and see how each game stacks up.

Fifth Place: Prince of Persia – The Forgotten Sands

Although The Forgotten Sands remains a popular game among many fans, it lands in fifth place due to a number of shortcomings. The combat was enjoyable but became extremely repetitive, as players found themselves using the same moves repeatedly. The story was also less impactful compared to the older entries, it felt short and seemed rushed, and the characters lacked depth. The game's environment was rather forgettable as well. While it is a solid game on its own, it just doesn’t hold up when compared with the original Prince of Persia trilogy, losing much of its excitement in comparison. Despite good visuals and impressive powers, the boring gameplay caused it to be ranked last.

Fourth Place: Prince of Persia (2008)

Following the conclusion of the original trilogy, Ubisoft took a bold risk with Prince of Persia (2008), rebooting the franchise. While initially intriguing, this game diverged significantly from what fans associate with Prince of Persia namely, a gripping storyline, dark environment, free-form combat, and linear gameplay. The story, though deep and emotional, did not feel like a true Prince of Persia tale. Gameplay became more open-world, resulting in repetitiveness, and the cel-shaded art style was divisive. The biggest flaw was the combat system, which focused on one-on-one battles. Although innovative in some ways, these fights lacked excitement for fans of the earlier games, leading many to find the experience overly simplified and lacking in variety.

Third Place: Prince of Persia – The Sands of Time

Regarded as ahead of its time with its gameplay, graphics, and storytelling, The Sands of Time introduced many to the franchise. However, its combat was considered quite simple and repetitive, with limited combos. The story, though engaging, felt short, leaving players wishing for more depth. Additionally, the camera angles were often frustrating, especially during platforming sections. For these reasons "simple combat, short story, and camera issues" The Sands of Time claims the third spot on this list.

Second Place: Prince of Persia – The Two Thrones

While for many, The Two Thrones is the highlight of the franchise, it comes in second here. Combining environments from Warrior Within and Sands of Time, the result felt neither distinctive nor memorable. Enemy variety was lacking compared to its predecessor, and the combat system was actually downgraded, with fewer combos. The story was also somewhat short and rushed, and technical issues impacted the gameplay experience. Nonetheless, innovative features like transforming into the Dark Prince and the memorable chariot chase sequences brought freshness, and stealth mechanics were particularly strong. Still, some missed expectations dropped it to second place.

First Place: Prince of Persia – Warrior Within

Most fans unanimously consider Warrior Within the best entry in the franchise. The game’s dark and serious environment set it apart, delivering an adrenaline-fueled experience, especially during encounters with Dahaka. The storyline was deeply engaging and executed excellently, and the level design reached a new standard within the series. The music "heavy metal tracks" was exceptionally memorable, further enhancing the game’s unique flair. Warrior Within stands out for offering more good qualities than flaws, earning its spot as the top-ranked Prince of Persia game in this article.
