So recently, after completing Star Wars Outlaws and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, I was eager for another space adventure. That’s when I finally decided to play Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. This game had been sitting on my wishlist for the last two years. I originally wanted to play it on my PC, but since my rig wasn’t strong enough to experience its full potential, I skipped it back then. Recently, I downloaded it on my PlayStation 5 and after finishing it, my god, I can’t even explain my happiness. I never imagined this game would be so much fun. The narrative, dialogues, voice acting, cinematics, and drama are all top-notch, making you feel like you’re watching a two-season Marvel TV show on Disney+.
Honestly, I had no idea it would be this enjoyable. I loved every part of it whether it was the straight forward gameplay, the team combat, or the visuals. Everything is crafted with care and precision.
If you ask me about the most criminally underrated games I’ve played, this one easily tops the list. I haven’t had this much fun in a long time. I didn’t even touch other titles while playing Guardians of the Galaxy because every level felt unique, and that constant sense of difference kept me hooked for long sessions.
At times, I even felt the storyline was better than the movies. And I’m not joking this game has something the films don’t. It’s one of those rare experiences you play once in your life and never forget. Sure, it has a few bugs and minor issues here and there, but they don’t affect the overall gameplay.
So the big question is: if this game is so good, why didn’t it live up to expectations?
The answer is simple: Marvel’s Avengers. At launch, people assumed Guardians of the Galaxy would be another live-service mess like Avengers. That misconception hurt its performance in the early days. Later, when Epic Games gave it away and sales kicked in, players finally gave it a try and realized they had missed a gem. Honestly, this game could have performed far better if Avengers hadn’t existed. Of course, there may be other reasons too, but the shadow of Avengers was the biggest factor. It’s obvious if your first product is a disaster, people won’t trust the next one.
In the end, I’d say Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is an amazing title that truly deserves your attention. If you haven’t played it yet, I highly recommend giving it a shot. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
