Whenever I get tired of big AAA action‑adventure titles, I reset my mind with small indie games. Recently, I received a key for Choppa: Rescue Rivals from Parta Games Oy, and even though I already had 30+ games installed on my PC (classic gamer problem, right?), I decided to give it a try.
At first glance, I thought it was just a simple rescue game, flying a helicopter to save people from different locations. But after a few hours, I realized it’s much more than that. Choppa: Rescue Rivals surprised me with creative boss battles, unique mechanics, and a lot of depth.
The Gameplay
- Rescue missions: Your main goal is saving civilians, but the game constantly throws new challenges at you.
- Boss battles: Don’t expect human bosses, instead, you’ll face massive machines and flying vehicles.
- Helicopter combat: Punch, grab objects, and blast through debris with nitro boosts.
- Extras: Open doors, collect coins, grab power‑ups, and unlock new helicopters, arenas, and stickers in the store.
This variety keeps the gameplay fresh and exciting, far beyond the “rescue” label.
The Art-Style
I’m a huge fan of colorful pixel art, and this game nails it. The world textures, visual effects, and level design are vibrant and creative. The helicopter designs are especially fun, my favorite is the quirky van helicopter, If you love retro‑style visuals, you’ll appreciate the attention to detail here.
Mobile Port Needed
The predecessor, Choppa, had a mobile version, and I really hope Rescue Rivals gets one too. This game feels perfect for quick sessions on the go, and I’d definitely grab it if it lands on mobile.
Final Thoughts
I don’t know what kind of games you’re into, but if you’re reading this, chances are your taste is similar to mine. Choppa: Rescue Rivals is a hidden gem a mix of rescue missions, creative boss fights, and charming pixel art. If you’re looking for something fresh outside the AAA space, I highly recommend giving it a try.
